Administrator Password Change

Hello,

we are about to change the Administrator's password on our NT2000 Domino server.  Other than the Certifier's passoword, is there any other place where we need to reflect the new password in Notes?

Thanks

I'm not sure if I understand what you're saying, but if the Administrators password is a Lotus Notes ID file then you do not need to change the cert password (that never needs to be changed). The server ID should not have a password assigned to it (having one requires entering it on restarts and removes the ability to use Domino 6 auto restart.

Your Notes Admin ID is treated the same as a normal user ID for auth purposes, just given far more rights via the server config document and ACL's.

Hope this helps a bit.

So that we do not need to remember two many passwords, we have all administrator passwords the same -- hard but the same.  Also, we make the Certifier password the same and we will change that as a matter of course.  I have gone through the process of changing the administrator password (the NT one that is) a while ago, and I just wanted to be absolutely sure that after I change the NT password, if I reboot the server, the Domino server will also start.  In other words, if I change the NT administrator password there is nowhere in Notes where I must also record the change.

As long as you have Domino starting as a service and do not have a password for the server ID it will launch without issue. Domino is totally independent of the NT logon process so you won't have any issue.
