Finding and using a .pst file
Ok, so my HDD crashed or did something the other day and I went and bought a new computer. I'm able to access my old HDD and have been transferring the necessary files to disc. What I really need is my old Outlook .pst file (I think that's the one) but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where I can look and what I'd need to do to replace it on my current HDD? I'm assuming if it's named whatever.pst, that I'd just copy it and move it to my new HDD with that new name?

Do I need to tell Outlook to export this file? That's to say, will it exist if I haven't told it to export?

This solution is only available to members.
To access this solution, you must be a member of Experts Exchange.
The file should be located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Out look.pst
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Out
By default, it should be under your old user profile. You may need to take ownership of that folder (right-click properties - from Security/Advanced/Owner tab).
