How to install WSUS on XP machine?

Hi everyone,

I know that it was possible to install SUS on non-server machine simply by extracting installation package and removing error message. Is there any way of installing WSUS on windows 2000 or XP? I know that it's different and uses SQL server, but maybe someone solved this problem successfuly :)

Thanks for any ideas

No, you need server to run the server component:

On which platforms does the WSUS server run?
A. • Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4) and later

The problem is that beta version of WSUS could be installed on any platform, but it was changed in final version - just to make people to buy the server.
The question is - how to make it working on XP or win2000 (not server). Can anyone help ????
