Exchange 2003 - Experiencing long delay before user mailbox is created with new users.

I created an account for a new user today in active directory. They were able to log into the network how ever i cant setup their Outlook profile. Their name does not show up in our company address book. When i look at the properties of the account on my exchange server the exchange tabs are there but there is no SMTP or x400 accounts setup. Its been over 3 hours since i set them up. I have tried to replicate the servers to no avail. Please help. I have experienced this before and deleting the user and trying it again sometimes works. However i think it might be part of a bigger problem.

Replication is a tricky thing.

Have you tried running the RUS (Recipient Update Service)? If not I would run an update on the RUS. Additionally, I would try and send an email to the account to activate it.

What is you replication policy for AD? Is it the standard 1 hour or has your company modified it to a different time?

In addition to what e2k3tek wrote, make sure that the DC running the RUS is the same domain as the DC you using in ADUC for creating new accounts.

I will try running RUS. We have 2 windows 2000 domain controllers. I have been adding users from the desktop of our exchange 2003 server. We are running a single domain.

I cant send an email to the account to activate it because the name does not show up in my global address list.

I believe its a standard replication policy...I have even forced replication on my DC's to see if it would help but is has not.

And FYI it has been about 18 hours since i created her account and "created" a mailbox for her and she is still not showing up in the GAL.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Well I tried RUS and forcing the domain controllers to replicate to no avail. Bounced the server this morning and everything is fine. Thanks for the help!
