How to secure or add a password to the jet engine using DA03.6 object library

I really need help. I have an access database, and vb designed programs that read and write to the database. I need to add a password using the jet engine. Someone is accessing the shared folder to the database doing whatever and creating indexes which is causing a major headache. I can't stop access to the database as a number of programs read and write to it. Any solutions would be grateful.

You can password protect your Access DB.  Just open access and check Help for password, and then include the password in your connection string.  Also, you should put the database in a folder with limited access rights.  I probably could write more, but I need to know in what context you are using the DB.  Is it being access through web pages?  In that case, are you running ASP or (I guess the latter would take ADO as opposed to DAO)?
