Accessing Content of Dataset

I have a DataSet that (I'm fairly certain..quite new at this) has 21 columns and 1 row.  I would like to be able to access the individual cells in the dataset so I can put the content into a VB.NET variable.  Basicly, I'm thinking of my dataset as an array...

Can I do that or must I actually PUT the data in an array to do this?

Thanks.

no you could just do

dim x as string = ds.tables(0).rows(0).item(0).tostring

this will put the 1 row, 1 column into the string variable
