Backup Restore config file Cisco VPN 3005 concentrator
Hey guys, I save my config file as an XML and restored and the xml file restored all my Interface settings, Lan to Lan tunnel settings, but did not restore my VPN client groups or a few of my settings like Use DHCP. What gives? I assumed saving the config file and importing would take care of everything?
The two groups I lost were a IPSEC remote access and PPTP remote access group. Even all of my users in the internal database were wiped out....
What's the best way to backup ALL the settings on the concentrator? Also, I noticed that if I switch my concentrator off and back on, it looses all the settings????

Can you do any sort of "show version"...maybe option 1?

Nope, Configuration options are the same as the web config. I have a support case opened with Cisco trying to figure this out.....waiting for a call back now.

Cisco called me back.... the tech had me install an SSL certificate by going to.... Administration | Certificate Management
and clicking on Generate, then generate again.... he said if the memory was faulty it would give an error message when after clicking generate the second time and not take you back to the Certificate Management screen. Next step is to return to factory defaults, reconfigure, and see if the problem still exists. If the problem still exists he'll RMA...

Checking the configuration register:
>en
#show version
the last line should read
Configuration register is 0x2102
Your configuration register is probably 0x2142 which is the standard value for erasing the configuration for password recovery. To change it back, type
#config-register 0x2102
Now your CVPN should hold its configuration after reboot (otherwise I would look for physical damage to the reset button.)
This register issue may have also impacted your backup.
Good luck.
