<div id="mydiv1" runat="server"> - System.Web.UI.WebControls.????? what is it?

I would like to make a set of about 15 or so divs with unique ID's with the runat="server" parameter so that I can manipulate thier properties at runtime.
I am loading data from a database, and the column names in the DB are the id's of the divs.
As such, I am looping through an array.
I have already done this with code like:

dim tempLabel As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label
dim tempLabel2 As System.Web.UI.WebControls.Label
dim tempText as System.Web.UI.WebControls.Textbox
for loop
    tempLabel=CType(Me.FindControl("lbl_" & sColumnName), Label)
    tempLabel2=CType(Me.FindControl("lbl_" & sColumnName & "_info"), Label)
    tempText=CType(Me.FindControl("txt_" & sColumnName), Textbox)

MY question is can I do this with a DIV, if so how? Is it System.Web.UI.WebControls.?????
I am looking at: http://beta.asp.net/QuickStartv20/util/classbrowser.aspx?namespace=System.Web.UI.WebControls
and not finding anything that looks like it will work.
Is there a general custom form control type?

System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlGenericControl is the generic html control
