window close problem

can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong here..when i close the applet, i need the confirm message to pop up..if i click yes it should close else stay both cases though below it closes..??

appletCalendarFrame.addWindowListener(new java.awt.event.WindowAdapter()
        public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e)
                  int response = JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(appletCalendarFrame,
                  "Do you really want to quit","Confirm Quit", JOptionPane.YES_NO_OPTION);
