Connecting website to LAN Computer

I am been attempting to point a website to a new server and this is how i
went about it. Pls tell me if this is correct and secure.

I went into the firewall (netgear fvs318) and under ports i added a service.

server name http and added the server's ip address.
It works fine and seemed too simple!

Is this the correct procedure. Thanks.

That is the correct procedure if that is how you configure port forwarding in your Netgear firewall.  It looks like it is, but I don't have hands-on experience with a Netgear firewall, so can't say for sure.

The main thing is to make sure that incoming http (port 80) traffic is forwarded to the LAN IP of the server (but make sure that is the only port that is open, unless you want to use https/ssl, in which case you will need to do the same for port 443).  If it works fine, then you've gotten it right.  Don't worry if it seems simple, because it generally is.
