HP Photosmart 2710 refuses valid cartridges!!

My HP All-in-1 Photosmart 2710, which I bougth 2 months ago,  came with 2 cartridges already installed (strange in itself) - a tricolour no: 97 (C9363W) and a black no: 94 (C8765W).  Both of these cartridges are not available in Europe (I live in Ireland) - I suspect they are US only.  Printer operated ok until ink ran out.  Bought 2 new cartridges - tricolour no:344 (C9363E) and black no: 339 (C8767E) - these are the cartridges stated on HP's website and the documentation as correct - they were also packed in the box of the printer.  When these are installed the printer screen comes up with 'one or both cartridges are not intended for use in this printer".  When only one is installed the message comes up "Printer cartridge 339 (or 344 depending which is installed) is not intended for use in this printer".  I have done everything to resolve - chatted with HP Support - who have been useless and just told me what's in the documentation or on the website!!  I've bought replacement cartridges in case the one's packed in the box are faulty - still doesn't resolve.  My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the firmware in the printer is set to detect US only cartridges - but the printer was bought in Europe!!  I have downloaded and installed the latest software and drivers - but still doesn't fix.

Please help.

If you cannot obtain Hp support as last resort you could remove printer battery, it would clear Nvram and it could restore printer functionality.

Finding the battery is sometimes an hard job, here's OfficeJet 125 battery location:

Remember however that removing battery you could void warranty, therefore follow Nobus' suggestion before all.

HP solved the problem.  Apparently it was shipped with US cartridges.  The printer is pretty smart - you can use US or European cartridges for the 1st 25 prints - after that the Printer locks itself to the cartridge type that has been used for the 25th print.  In my case it was a US cartridge.  Therefore when the ink ran out and I bought the European cartridges it would not accept them!!!  HP had to generate a special code for me to input on the printer set up page (a secret location on the page to click on to get the code input dialog box - all very secret service style) - when the code was entered the Euro cartidges worked fine.
wasn't my answer right then ?
