O&O Defrag and Network Error 10061.

I recently installed the O&O Defrag Trial Version, because it had some good reviews and I wanted to try it out. After installing the program and upon executing it I keep getting this network error 10061 - No connection could be made bacause the target machine actively refused it.

So I simply checked out msconfig to see whether the service was running and this is what I got, the service was infact running -

Further as suggested in the error window I tried to run the service manually, I also tried to run the service automatically, but the error won't go away.

Upon further search I found out that one has to open another port 50300 to enable the program to work, how does one do that? Won't disabling the firewall work? Is the program worth the effort of trying to make the damn thing work.

I am sorry, I should have mentioned this in the question, I am working on a single Personal Computer, My PC is not linked to any network whatsoever. Also I am currently running Windows XP SP2, and use ZoneAlarm as my personal firewall. I tried added the exeption for both port 10061 and 50300 as suggested in the first link, but since ZoneAlarm is the firewall currently running I guess it may not work as the windows firewall is diabled in any case. So I guess I will have to add exception to either/both ports in the Zonealarm firewall settings. I guess I'll try that and then see what happens.

Hey guess what, its working now. I allowed O&O access rights/permission via the Program Control Menu of Zone Alarm by adding it to the list of prgrams that had various access levels.
