I can't seem to connect Flashget to start my downloads?

I run XP SP2 using a DSL connection over a proxy server.
I installed Flashget to speed upmy downloads, but am not sure how to set it up?
I tried starting to download something and I just get:

Socket error = 10060 connection refused

How do I configure the settings?
I tried looking myself in the flashget manual but couldn't find anything useful.

No-one seems to like this question. Hope your not scared of it.

Looks like I will have to put the points yet again to get someone to let me know i'm not alone on this one!!!
Try posting it in the Misc section.
Idea off the top of my head, have you got a firewall running?  If so make sure it's allowing port 10060.
I just added it to my exceptions, is that what you mean?
It still didn't work though. I tried IDA by westbyte before this and got the same result, they are just not user friendly enough for me????
OK, from the Flashget user manual FAQ:

Socket Error 1006x
Make sure your internet connection is OK, (if using proxy server, please make sure that all the setting are correct). The problem might have been caused by connecting using too many Jets, do not try to download too many file simultaneously. If the error occur in only part of the sites, it's probably because the site is down, download the file at an other time.

It looks like you need to check your proxy settings rather than the software itself, again, can't say much more on this without more information.  I *think*, and I welcome someone to come and tell me if I'm right or wrong here, that these downloader programs usually work by simultaneously downloading the same file several times at once, rather than just once.

*If* this is correct, it's possible that your proxy server is complaining that there are too many concurrent connections ongoing at once - see if there's a setting to increase the number of connections it will accept at once, and also try downloading something small first - I assume you're only trying to download one file at a time with it anyway.

Hope this helps

Sorry, should have scanned the whole FAQ before posting, also found this:

How do I use FlashGet? How do I use a proxy server?
Go to the Tools menu, click on Options... then Proxy. Check both HTTP and FTP Default to direct connection, or add your own Proxy server address (ask your network administrator for it) by clicking on Add That's all you have to do. Now you can use FlashGet to download files. If you're uncertain how to add files to the download list, refer to Adding jobs If FlashGet still doesn't download after you have successfully added jobs to the job list and pressed Start, then you have to ask your network administrator for a Proxy server address and its port.

So you need to tell Flashget that you're using a proxy server as per these instructions.  You need to find out the IP address (formatted like "192.168.1.2") of your proxy server.
I don't really get where to input the information here??

On the proxy tab do I tick all boxes, http, ftp, rtsp and multi?
When I click ADD I get title box, server and port. Does my proxy address go into the title or the server? If so what goes into the other box? and what circle do I highlight in the TYPE box, http<get>, http<connect>??? Other?
Is there another way to find my IP address? Where do I input this?

Just a thought, you MIGHT be able to find your proxy server address by using IPCONFIG on your computer and looking at the "Default Gateway.....x.x.x.x" line - I would expect that to be your proxy server's address but can't be sure because I don't use a proxy myself.

Any luck?  If it works now please let us know and close the question, or else say what isn't working or what you don't understand and I'll keep trying.
I'm on holiday at the moment. Will try the comments out when I return to the world.
Refund or points allocation depending on whether or not he got his answer from my suggestions.  Would be nice if you could let us know cazandnevstar!
