Outlook 2003 error: "Can't open this item. The object could not be found."

When double-clicking on a recurring appt, this is the message that I get:

"Can't open this item.  The object could not be found."

** Explanation:  We got three PCs in the same work area that can set recurring appointments in the Calendar in Outlook 2003, but then cannot access those to delete or edit.  All give the same error. "Can't open this item.  The object could not be found." No virus found with updated Symantec.

*** Logging in with the users on a different PC and adding there Exchange mailbox (account) works fine.  In other words, on my PC I can attach to Exchange as one of the offending users.........and adjust their calendar without any errors.

........so, the problem seems to be local to these thress PCs and not an Exchange issue.  Any ideas??

Jason,
Thank you for the quick response.

All three machines responded well to deleting the "frmcache.dat" file and now can adjust recurring meetings.  One of the computers had a relapse an hour later, then the file was deleted again and the problem fixed again.  Not sure what has caused this on only these THREE computers in the same area, especially since so many others of the same model and image exist.......but stranger things have happened.  Now we just have to wait and see if this STAYS fixed.

    Thanks again,
     Charles
Charles,

Thanks for the grade and points. Let me know if there is another relapse and I will do more research.

Thanks again

PAQ update:

The problem has re-occured on two of the three machines.  RE-performing the step fixes it 'again' for awhile, then it occurs again.  Unfortunately, cannot troubleshoot the problem further at this time.  The users have decided to accept it until new systems arrive.

I can only assume at this point that some other software is 'corrupting' these files again and again.

I received the error:
"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. The object could not be found."
when clicking on mailto: links (in IE for example)
Deleting the FRMCACHE.DAT also fixed this issue. Thanks.
Did any find a more permanent fix?
I have the same issue with one of my users. I can fix it by either deleting frmcache.dat or clearing the forms cache via Options (same thing I know)
However the problem occurs again a few days later.

I have even tried to get hem to delete all recurring meetings and redoing them only for it happen yet again.
I have a similar issue.  It is related to a reoccuring meeting that will give an error stating this item may be dismissed but will still give reminders (even If set for 2 weeks on snooze the reminder appears everytime you open outlook)  also when trying to open the instance I recieve the can't open this item could not be found.  I have tried clearing the cache and deleted the FRMCACHE.DAT file and closed and opened outlook with no change.  I even removed the profile from control panel/mail and then added the profile back with the same result.
Any other ideas out there??
