Hard Drive replacment on a HP Pavilion XH575

Hello,

I'm needing to replace the hard drive in one of our HP Pavilion XH575 laptops.  In the toshiba's that we own, this is very easy;  remove one screw and the hard drive tray slides out the side.  It doesn't appear though, that there is a hard drive tray easily accessible on this particular laptop.

Does anyone know physically change out this hard drive?

Thanks for any help

Wrong model laptop covered.  There is no removable hard drive tray on the pavilion xh575.

Thanks for trying though.
i've read that on ebay you can buy a cd with all manuals for laptops, but i don't have the link

Anyone else have any ideas on how to remove the hard drive in this laptop?

On the back of your laptop there should be some small plastic covers that are binded to the laptop case with screws. Try to identify the one that covers the hard drive and remove it. You will find the hard drive beneath it.

A few hints: there should be one that is the hottes area on the bottom of your lap, there should be another one covering the RAM and perhaps the modem, and finally there should be one covering the hard drive. Anyway, keep removing them but stay away from the hottest one. Good luck.

The hard drive is not located underneath any of the panels on the bottom of the laptop.  I've removed them all.

I've done this many times on dell and toshiba laptops with no problems.  Apparently HP, on this particular model, decided not to make it that easy.

Then get yourself a cup of coffe, a paper and a pencil if you feel like drawing the screws position and start pulling them out one by one until you'll find the hard drive.

Bad solution, but that's your final option.

I wish you good luck with this experience.
some laptops are made to remove the side panels; usually you find 2 screws to remove both side panels.

I ended up having to call HP on this one.  They charged me $49 bucks for the support.

You have to pop the top plastic shield above the keyboard off.  Then, you remove the 4 upper screws fastening the keyboard to the chasis.  The hard drive lies under there.
