Windows Server 2000 Family getting Inaccessible Boot Device, blue screen of death

Hello,
I have a church that runs windows server 2000 family, getting the error message Inaccessible Boot Device blue screen of death.

I do not have a copy of windows server 2000, but can I use my windows 2000 pro cd to boot off of and see if I can repair it?   Can I try a fix master boot record?

Any help would be great.  This is an older pc Compaq, Deskpro 450 with 384 ram.

Can I also add daisy chain to my other win2000 pro system to get the old files off of it?

Thanks
Paul

Your MBR is fine, otherwise you wouldn't have got as far as you have.

If you haven't changed any drivers etc, my bet would be that the disk is on its way out, or the registry is corrupt.

The easiest way to get the files off the disk will be to take the disk out of that PC and add it into another PC. Trying to do anything else with a PC of that vintage is going to be painful.

a long shot, go into bios and make sure the hard drive type is set to LBA... even if it's "auto", set it to LBA....

/has fixed this for me more than once
//cant hurt to try..

When I opened up the computer I found two hard disk.
I’ve set them both up to XP pro and Windows Pro 2000 systems.  Both windows say they found the drive during windows startup and in the Hardware devices.   I’ve changed the jumper to slave. But when I go into Explorer and do a REFRESH I can’t find anything.

When I use Windows Pro 2000 Repair mode(dos) I can see files on the hard disk?  I haven’t tried copying them yet.

Any help would be great.
Thanks
