Connect VOIP Phone to Ethernet Port

Hi,

I have a GrandStream Budgetone 101 phone that I use with a sipgate account. Everything works very well when I plug the phone directly into my router.
I am currently in a different location where I have wireless Internet access on my laptop, and I would like to connect the phone to my laptop and share the net connection.

I have tried the following without success:

- purchased a crossover cable (also tried following with standard ethernet cable)
- connected the ethernet ports between phone and pc with the cable
- I allowed Internet Sharing on my wireless connection
- the LAN connection pops up (I am using Windows XP Pro) saying limited or no connectivity

I can set DHCP or IP Address / SubNet / DNS on the phone, but can't seem to get anything working.

Is this approach completely wrong, or is it even possible?
The phone just comes up with a no IP message. How can I check if the PC can even see the phone?

TIA

Sorry i didn't get back on this. I tried the internet bridge but no success. I gave up in the end, as the situation was only temporary, and I am now back to plugging the phone directly into the router.
I am more than happy to have the points split though..thanks for the replies! It was a shame the connection bridge did not work, as no errors were reported, the phone just couldn't get an IP.
