license question for SOlaris 8

Hi everybody,

I have license question for the SUN OS license. If I want to install the Solaris 8 into a x86 computer for development. It means that the machine only use by myself. Do I need to buy the Sun OS 8 license? or  SunOS 8 also is open source??

Thanks a lot.

Oh and no, Solaris 8 is not open source

If you are truly doing development work .. you will need to contact SUN directly and see if they will let you d/l Solaris 8 w/o cost ...
If you just going to do development on it.

Why not download Soalris 10?  Free license with it (for single CPU machines).

Just an idea.

Wow. That's quite a change. I didn't know that Sun had started charging for the x86 version of Solaris 8.

Given that, I echo the previous comments, in that unless you really need Solaris 8, go get Solaris 9 or Solaris 10 for free. I wouldn't pay that much for Solaris v8 x86.
