FTP DNS question

Here's what I'd like to achieve.

Purchase a domain name called "company123FTP.com" I already own "company123.com". But to make things very simple for ftp, I'll purchase the ftp named domain.

Our main Web server is off site. Our FTP that we use for ALL our clients is local (at my office). Currently we give them the IP address, this works most of the time, but our staff has a problem remembering the IP address.

Here's what I need assistance with. When I purchase the domain name, will I just customize the "Manage Name Servers" area, and change "server hostname primary" to my FTP server IP address? I'm not sure if this simple change will really work. Or will I need to run a DNS application on the FTP server box? if so then I won't do it.

If the above will not work; could you give me a suggestion?
