NEro 6.6 version MP3 Burning Problem

I have asked this question previously several months ago. i never got a good answer. I ended up removing the software and installed an earlier version to circumvent the problem. Anyway, the problem is with burning Mp3's It complains while adding a MP3 file, that the format is not supported. Now that is pure nonsense. ANd it does this for some of the mp3s but not all. WHat is the difference between the two mp3 files, i could not tell. I tried every thing to differentiate but no luck. All these mp3s are perfectly playable and burnable in all previous versions. It is the ver 6.6 which is supposed to be the latest and greatest (dumbest?) nero version. I dont want to go back to earlier versions just to be able to burn mp3s which I dont do often at all. I like some of the features available in this version so I have to keep it. So what is the solution? Only serious answers please. No dumb questions. I have checked all the normal novice dumb mistakes and eliminated. Also, I have asked this very same question and went thru all the dumb answers and questions before. So please if you know the exact answer then help me.

I will have to simply delete the question, if I dont find the correct answer to this problem. I will give 250, if I find a true solution.

by the way My OS is windows XP Pro. Every thing is uptodate. All other burning features of NERO working fine (Like burning DVDs etc etc). It does play all the mp3s even those it complains to add with no problem whatsoever.

what about running the updates that Nero provide here ( Aside from InCD ) :

Don't bother with InCD !!

Take a look here :

Is that not to do with copy protected mp3's which seem to be infiltrating the net at the moment ?

Sorry these updates dont help at all.. There is something wrong with NERO latest 6.6 version I believe. Somehow this is the version that appears to give problem with MP3s. I guess I will have to use the old version or learn how to use another software to burn MP3s.. what a bummer.
An alternative to Nero is :

Other then that If I was you I would contact the people at Nero's customer service to see if they can help you or use an older version of Nero like you said.
Here are a few options.

Have you tried installing WMA plug-in? This resolved a few issues I had with Nero 6.
http://www.sintelsystems.com/ExpertsExchange/WMAPlugin20933.exe

Also, if you open Nero Burning ROM, go to File, Preferences, under the General tab you have 2 buttons to choose from: Plug-in Lookup & Unsupported Plug-ins.
Check the Unsupported Plug-ins to see if there is anything installed that isn't supported and so on.
Check the Plug-in Lookup to see all the installed Encoders, Decoders and Converters.
(i.e... Under the Encoders tab, you should see mp3PRO, select it and click Configure. Click "Expert" and compare it to mine. http://www.sintelsystems.com/ExpertsExchange/mp3PRO.jpg - anything is possible...)

Lastly, what is the kbps of the MP3s that wont accept? If I am not mistaking, with Nero 6.6 there is such a thing as "too low quality" causing it not to burn.

The Mp3 files I had were of exceptionally high quality and perfectly alight with previous  versions of NERO.
I remember going thru the steps for MP3Pro plugin.. But I dont remember whether my screen looked exactly like yours. I will check ti when I get a chance. I am not sure about WMA plug in. I believe it was also one os those dozens of supported plugins.. I will check that one too. Currently I just installed my older version on top of the newer one. I have not checked it yet to see if it works. It might force me to completely uninstall and install the older version... Will check all the details and post back in a few hours.

I checked my settings they were exactly like yours. The quality of MP3's very high 540 Kbps in fact. Like I said before, i burned these mp3s with NERO in past. Only now it refuses to burn.
Falcon,

Check out this link and see what if it helps:

Between the last time you were able to burn the MP3 and now, have you made any major changes to your software or hardware? Reinstalled Windows? Uninstalled a media program? Changed sound card (or any other hardware)?

Lastly, would you mind sending one of the MP3s you are trying to burn to me (if the link above doesn't help)? If you say that your settings are just like mine, then I should have the same problem burning the MP3s too.

Good luck,
M. Saeedi

I would like to send you the MP3 file by email. Please give me your email address.
There is no last time so I cant tell you one way or the other.

I had this problem several months ago and posed the question. I could not solve it. so i simply deleted NERO and went back to some older version which worked fine.

Recently I had a major change in the sense. I installed Windows XP Pro from scratch and installed all the programs. I installed the latest version of NERO at that time not realizing that I had problems with it in past. Also, My problem seems to have been duplicated by others as well. I read some complaints like mine when I searched GOOGLE for that error message I got. So this has nothing to do with my set up. But Ofcouse the specific MP3 file may be having some kind of format that has been discontinued by NERO. This is the only possible Rational explanation I have.
I understand. As a user I have never come across with such a situation. Anyway, no one else responded to help me or find out about the file. The file is free to anyone who wants to check it as far as I am concerned. I have no clue how to post it on a free ftp and such since I have never done that before.
For this issue, I have created the following guest account on my FTP server.

Before use:
In order for everyone to be able to view the file, please change the MP3s name before uploading to:  EE.mp3

To use it:
   Click on this link:
      ftp://u36138218-guest:guest@sintelsystems.com
Drag-and-Drop 'EE.mp3' into the window that opens
Wait for the progress bar to show it is completed "Copying" and post results here

After uploading:
For anyone who would like to view the file as well, please right click on the following link and "Save Target"
      http://www.sintelsystems.com/ExpertsExchange/MP3/EE.mp3
*Download this file at your own risk. I will check it myself when I can, but use all necessary precautions. Neither Sintel Systems, nor anyone in relation assumes any responsibility for any potential damage that may be caused. (Not that I'm saying anything will happen, but still got to make sure I add that in there.)

Good luck,
M. Saeedi

The file I downloaded from your server worked fine. I could also burn using my NERO! This is really fantastic. Finally found my solution.
The quality actually no difference. Atleast I could not tell anything different
The size is about half the size of original file. I believe your encoded file has 128 Kbps constant bit rate. My original one has variable bit rate (VBR) which is why you find the bit rate jumping. However, VBR is not the reason why NERO could not burn because I have many other mp3 files which are encoded VBR and play and burn fine.
The reason, like you suspected, is probably due to discontinued format in the newer NERO versions (Previous versions of NERO and other programs could burn the file with no problem whatsoever). I think it is simpler to just use other programs that can burn rather than messing with converting all those files into 128 standard. Because I have quite a few of them:(.

Another piece of information: I checked the file using AVICODec info program. This program is freely downloadable and can tell about the props of many types of mpg and mp3 files. It actually thinks this particular file has only quality 26% and bit rate is 32  Kbps... which is a no no  NERO which needs a min. of 64 Kpbs other wise it refuses to burn thinking it is not CD quality. This makes no sense because when you listen to it, it sounds perfectly clear with really high fidility. Anyway, that is how it is. I am glad this is resolved and I thank you very much for all the help. I shall award the points to you now.  Falcon.
Cool! Perfect.
Glad the solution worked.

I remember being able to burn VBR MP3s as well, but I guess I just havn't recently and didn't have that issue come up.

Either way, glad it worked.

Best of luck and thanks for the points,

M. Saeedi
