What is a Security Policy Database?
In order to connect to our Zywall 35, we use a Zyxel client which requires the importing of a policy file, called .SPD file. A consultant created this file and he's reluctant to tell us how. I'd like to know what it is, and how I'd go about creating one, if ever I needed to.
Just looking for a simple explanation - no details, just the procedure of creating this, and what it actually does.
This question is a follow on from this thread: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21531439/How-does-Radius-work.html
Many thanks

Thanks for the reply.
Ok, I think I understand the purpose of the file, though I'm not sure what you mean by proposal 1 & proposal 2 schemes. Could you explain that a bit more?
As to creating the policy - you ask about a netwave client. What's that?

Thanks for the help again, arnold.
It would contain a passphrase. The proposal one and proposal two scheme. The public Ip of the zyxel firewall. The encription type for both proposal phase 1 and proposal phase 2. It will also contain what systems/segments/Ip ranges the individual can access through the established tunnel.
As far as creating the policy, you might have to have a local zyxel client install and create the policy from there. Once done, you wuld export the policy. Are you using a netwave client?
