Around 4:00 am, my windows 2000 web server rebooted itself. In the events log it listed this after startup:

at 8/18/05 4:22:33

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.
The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xc0000005, 0xa003ee9f, 0x00000000, 0x00000001).
Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: C:\WINNT\MEMORY.DMP.

I checked the log files and two things were scheduled... (oops)
The mcafee virus scan started at 4:00 am and didn't complete....
(from mcafee logs)
8/18/2005      4:00:00 AM      Scan Started      SSWEB\Administrator      Scan All Fixed Disks
(that's the last log entry)

The ntbackup started at 4:00 am and did complete.

I looked up the 1e error in the microsoft knowledge base and coincidentally... found this...;en-us;904374
You receive a "Stop 0x0000001e" error message after you install Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

Cause: This problem may occur if the computer has certain earlier non-Plug and Play ISA, EISA, or MCA SCSI controllers installed. This problem occurs because of a code problem in the Scsiport.sys driver that is included in Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4.

I just happened to have installed the update rollup 1 the previous day, in the afternoon...

Windows 2000 Hotfix Update Rollup 1 was installed.

But I didn't reboot the computer for changes to take affect until around 3:00 am.
But I was on the phone with a McAfee tech and he said this likely didn't apply to my system, because this isn't a SCSI drive, it's IDE sata drive. It's a western digital raptor drive.

I do also have a Maxtor removable drive on this box, that is used for the backups that the ntbackup performs. But I believe it is a USB IDE sata drive.

Anyway, I am ftping the memory dump to the mcafee tech and he is going to tell me more explicitly what is going on.

But meanwhile, any ideas if this fix might be the answer, considering I don't have SCSI, and if not, any other ideas?
