On my form there is a simple date field called "YearInput"  which is basically the year.  Of course its defauts 2005.

Here comes the curve ball.  They need to start creating documents for 2006.
So you are thinking why is this a problem, have the user set the InputYear to 2006 and all is good. True, but being it is 2005 all the 2006 documents have versions.

So I create a field called "VersionLevel"  computed for display - default 1.1.

The problem is that the version is needs to be editable by myself and no one else and should only show if they select year 2006

So I am thinking a hidden field that I can edit with the current version level.  Then the field VersionLevel have a default some like this

@If(InputYear = "2005"; " "; HdnVersionLevel)

if 2005 is the year selected - the value is null so nothing shows up, but if it is 2006, the vlaue from the hidden field is displayed

refreshing the fields are my main problem - you can refresh fields from a date selection

Any suggestions on the best way to display and update this field is needed
