Drivers for HP Pavilion 8655C

Now normally i would feel stupid asking a driver question on here, but this one has me absolutley dumbfounded.  As i stated it's an HP Pavilion 8655C system with windows 98se.  Now i've got the MB drivers, and the gameport drivers, i cannot get the soundcard/modem drivers (they are both on the same chip).  Its a conexant Riptide (RACC010), i've tried the hp.com the only driver they have is an upgrade, the same with www.driverguide and drivershq.com.  The system will not work with the upgrade drivers. I have google searched it and any sites i've found have the upgrade drivers too.  So what i'm asking is does anyone know of another place to try or any help in finding these drivers.
Thanks
Joshua

you may have to start asking around for people have this model computer that still has the disk :)

you're right, this driver is next to impossible to find, and if driverguide.com doesnt have it, then i dont know what will
Just found this earlier EE thread which may be of interest!

yeah Jonvee i have seen that driver, though thanks for helping me search, i've also found out that it's a rockwell (conexant) Riptide, i think rockwell must be a sub companyof conexant, apparently i must not be the first person to have this problem.  The owner of this machine lost their disk, i'll keep looking if anyone else finds something interesting or has an idea i have nothing better than to give it a try.
Thanks

Well the first time I ran into HP Desktop HD configuration, is when I with little fore thought, reformatted a 20 gig HD for win98 instead of xp as requested. I suddenly found out that I did not have the drivers for the machine. Then I was going to replace the win 98 with xp pro Well to my surprise when I reformatted the HD, I found I formatted only 5 gigs. The other 15 gigs were in an invisable partition! Thus I had to get the disks (8) from HP for 28 dollars. It took 4 hours to reinstall xp pro.

Thus if your pc came preloaded, then you need the restore disks from HP.

You should be aware that drivers for modems are usually regionalized.

Depending on the layout of your Master Recovery CD's, you MIGHT be able to extract the original drivers from the compressed setup files.  If you could give some indication of the  CD's layouts, ie. main folder names, then I could compare it to some I have here from which I have been able to extract the drivers.  Look particularly for a folder named "PARTS".

If you see files in separate folders with an .ARJ extension, then they are most likely password-protected archives, and you may be able to find the passwords by scouring the internet.  I haven't had much luck with these, only with the older HP/Compaq CD's.
Thank you.
Jonvee, I noticed one of your links as "oldlook" earlier.  Not sure if you use the EERedirect.dll to load it, or if you change it manually in the address bar, but it looks as though they have finally killed it.  Unavailable for 2 days now :-(
BillDL,
'Oldlook' loads automatically because IE properties 'Homepage' is setup for that!   Have preferred Oldlook in the past because when using 'Dialup', EE was taking far too long to download 'www'.   However, as from two weeks ago, Broadband was at last available in these parts, thus solving the problem.   'Oldlook'' still has one or two good features though.  It also reappeared tonight     : )
That's good.  Thanks.
Check out Azra's .dll here:

I toggle it on and off (if needed) from two .PIF files on my start menu pointing to .BAT files which run either regsvr32 eeredirect.dll  OR regsvr32 /u eeredirect.dll
BillDL,      Thank you.    Will take a look at that option.
