I had a strange one today, which has been resolved but I'm very curious as to what the cause was. I could not ping my mail server from one workstation on the network. I could ping every other server from that workstation just fine. I could ping the exchange server from every other workstation just fine. I just couldnt ping the exchange server from that one workstation. So, I log on to the exchange server, ping the workstation, it times out on the first icmp responce then picks up and replies for the rest. After pinging the workstation once from the server, I switch back to the workstation and now I can ping the server??
I checked the route table on the workstation and it looked normal. DNS was resolving fine. Any insite would be appreciated.
