Does W2k3 and W2k play nicely together as domain controllers? Additionally, domain controller replacement logic flow.

I currently have 2 windows 2000 domain controllers, I am having drive troubles with the secondary.  I need to migrate both to 2003 eventually anyway, however my immediate need is to replace the domain controller that is having drive problems.  Here is my plan of attack:

1.) bring up W2k3 system and dcpromo
2.) let it replicate for a couple days
3.) make it a global catalog server then take global catalog ability away from flaky secondary DC (W2k)
4.) Migrate DNS and DHCP to new W2k3 server from flaky W2k server
5.) dcpromo down flaky server

Am I missing anything obvious here?

Secondly, the system I am replacing is a W2k box, my FSMO is a W2k box also.  Will W2k3 play nicely with the FSMO?  Anything I should look out for?  Eventual goal would be to then migrate the FSMO to W2k3 also.  Thanks for input.
