I have some questions:

1) Can anyone please explain the difference between routers, access points, repeaters  and bridges in wireless environment and when/how to use each?   I know a router is a firewall and can extend internet physical connections.  But access points can do the same?  And what s the point of a bridge?

2) I have a large one floor home with many rooms and one cable connection in a far corner of the house.  My netgear router with a electric-plug repeater device experience is okay but I want to improve performance.  I was hoping I could plug in an access point in each room which would WIRELESSLY connect with the router.  Is this the correct setup to solve my problem? Hawking's signal boosters make me a little nervous - I would imagine router companies would boost their signal if it met safety standards (I am not an engineer - this is my own ignorant logic).  Which of the devices would I need to put together to accomplish the connection extension wirlessly?

Any help would be appreciated
