Is it possible to find out what apps or processes are using a drive?
Is there a program available or method for determining what apps, processes, services or whatever might be causing a "drive still in use" error message when I try to dismount the drive? I figure that since there are programs that show dependencies for DLLs and processes there must be something that shows apps and processes are using a PC's drives at any given time.
I'll second that.
Also, Process Explorer is pretty good. At the same link as above.

Another tool you can use is called "handle" and is also available from sysinternals.com
I usually use Filemon (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html) to find such information. If the disk is accessed, you will see it.
You may also find other tools at http://www.sysinternals.com. This site has a huge bunch of great tools.
