Recover data from hardrive - partition detected as 'LBA'
Hello,
My dad's PC wasnt working so he sent me his hard-drive so I can try to recover his data. The disk is a 120GB WD Caviar IDE drive - model WD1200JB-00CRA1, it was partitioned as NTFS; now I have put it into my PC and EverestHome detects the drive as a WDC WD12 00JB-00CRA1 SCSI Disk Device, and the partition type as 'LBA' - how should I go about trying to recover his files?
Cheers

Hi,
O/S: Win2000 Advanced Server.
Disk Manager sees the drive as a 'Foriegn' Disk and presents an option to 'Import Foreign Disks' or 'Revert to Basic Disk'.
I tried 'Import Foreign Disk' which subsequently allowed me to assign a drive letter;
All good now thanks.
I thought I was going to have to use a 3rd party tool, as in my experience Windows assigns a drive letter automatically if it is able to do so at all...

If a drive letter does not show, right click on My Computer and choose Manage. Click on Disk Management under Storage. Look for his drive to appear in the pane on the right side (you should be able to tell by disk size). Right click on his drive and assign it a drive letter.
Hope this helps.
