DSL, Linksys 811.b router, DHCP...on a home office network...workgroup is "mshome"....
Desktop computer connected to router with patch cord...
Laptop connected with wireless...

CLients runs Vice Versa synching software between 2 computers...syncs once or twice a week...setup so that the My Documents is shared on each computer is synchronized...

I set this system up about 3 months ago and it has been working perfectly...until yesterday...
Yesterday client called on phone, cannot sync...talked him thru some tests, realized that the 2 computers cannot "see" each other...advised will be onsite next day...

I'm at client site today and I cannot get the 2 comuters to connect...

Issues:

BOTH computers access the internet perfectly...
Desktop cannot ping laptop, laptop cannot ping desktop...
I have My Documents shared on BOTH computers, neither computer can access the other computers My Documents...Error message is "Network Path Not Found"...

What I have done:
1.  RE-shared folders...
2.  There is only 1 user on each computer, the same user, same account, no password, but was originally setup without any passwords...
3.  Set static IP's and still no ping..,.
4.  Unplugged from router, setup separate switch, set static ip's on both and no connectivity...
5.  Ran winsock repair utility...
6.  Connected back up to router, set DHCP, both computer access Internet ok, but cannot ping each other...

Remember...these 2 computers have accessed each other perfectly for about 3 months and the Vice Versa synch software runs perfectly...and both computer get on internet correctly thru the router...

We had a HUGE storm go thru the area last week, synch ran perfectly before the storm, but not since...so I assumed, after some attempts to get them networked, that maybe the switch part of the router took a hit preventing the computers from talking to each other...I tried different ports, no joy...then I went static and hooked up the separate switch, but still not work...

I am out of ideas...

And I need to get this up and running ASAP...

Any ideas, thoughts, PLEASE???
