Exchange on a second domain

I have a request to host second exchange server in a different domain. The network setup is as below

FIREWALL =====> DomainA/ExchangeA svr => VPN => DOMAIN B/ ExchangeB svr

All external traffic travels in and out via firewall

What I would like to know is what do you think is the most appropriate option.

The Firewall currently routes all smtp requests to ExchangeA. I am looking for a option that will allow exchangeA to process mail for and Exchange B to host

Unfortunately due to internal politics has emphasised they want to host there own mail at ExchangeB.

The only option I am aware of is to have a mail relay box that such as Linux Sendmal to have all email routed to it from the firewall. Then sendmail to able to process what domain it was from. My knowledge of Sendmail is limited and would like to avoid this application if possible.

Oh and By the way its a w2k server and exchange 2000 at sectionA and Server 2003 exchange 2003 at SectionB
