Counting unique page hits through a URL variable
I'm trying to count unique hits to a page by a certein ref (url variable)
So, for example if I went to 'http://www.site.com?x=user1' the script would write to a text file and print "user1 : 1 unique hit"
The script would only record uniques for 24 hours. After 24 hours, 'user1' would be rolled back to 0 and it would start counting again.
I have no idea how to start with this script - I have never done anything like this before.
Thank you.
