Keyboard&mouse are working until XP start.
I have a strange issue with a customer`s computer. Keyboard & mouse are working fine until XP start booting. Then the keyboard stop responding while "num lock" LED still lit. The Mouse pointer never appear on the desktop. I am able to go in the bios and modify settings, but cannot boot in command mode or repair mode.
Any idea?

I tries yesterday to boot with both keyboard and mouse disconnnected. It boot as if they where there, no halt, no bip. Also tried to connect them one at a time and use other keyboard. The last thing i am able to do is to issue a F8 to go in safe mode and command mode, but curriously it does boot in normal mode anyway!!
tomorow I will try the recommend boot CD, i don't know them, it could be useful. I often use UBCD, but it is always interesting to find better one.

No it was not USB device, but PS2 device. It appear that the problem was caused by corrupt OS component. Thanks to evevybody.

Concerning the XP drive, nothing has been installed or removed. It happen since the OS got frozen during a CD burning process. The second drives (Win98) have have also some problem since the obscure disk error. Theses information let me believe that it may not be OS related.
NOTE: other keyboard has been used for testing
