I have been starting to use Mac OS ....

I've noticed that when you open a window (with finder or by double-clicking on the Mac HD).

That first inital window will open with a VIEW of LIST ... I like it that way ...

My GRIPE is that if I double-click on a folder, the next 'window' will STAY in one window ... but my issue is that the
VIEW of the current existing window will 'change' from LIST to ICON mode.

I hate this .....

I was wondering if there was a way to force FINDER to use ONE window all the time and any changes to the window will stay in the LIST VIEW.

Thanks in advance for your time and any reply!
