Foreward: I am not trying to network my Firewire (1394 Connection)

Problem: Windows hangs on boot. Gives the following error:

Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 545543445200.  The following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

the adapter 545543445200 is my firewire card and I have disabled the card in all hardware profiles yet it still tries to DHCP. This causes my computer to hang for about 2 minutes on login. Very irritating. I can't manually assign an IP to this machine as it is on my work network and sometimes on my home network. I have tried manually setting an ip address on the firewire card's tcp/ip settings but, it still tries to DHCP/Register it on my work network. Anyone know a way to prevent windows from installing the 1394 net adapter? That would be a great but, I can't figure it out.

Thanks for your help.
