HP/Compaq NX8220... how does its WSXGA+ panel handle resolution reductions??

Does anyone know how the nx8220 handles a reduction of resolution from 1680*1050 to 1024*768.  A Dell Inspiron 8000 would either maintain a native resolution, but use less screen area ie have a black border or interpolate and use the full screen. The latter oftens leads to a slight fuzziness.

With the WSXGA+ panels the issue is more interesting as the aspect ratio are different. I guess I would hope that it would emulate a 4.3 aspect screen and have black left and right margins, rather than stretch to fit the wide screen.

Thanks,

Sam
