Some problems sending and recieving emails, semi new to Exchange

Hey everyone, I am hoping someone can help me on this as I kinda got thrown into this issue and now have become the exchange admin, yet I am still pretty new to it. here is our setup.

we have a mail filter (borderware MX filter, MXtreme mail firewall) that gets all the emails, but we do not send out from it. behind the filter is the exchange server 2k3 with sp1 on exchange but not the OS (yet) These two box's are NAT. dns on the public side says try the filter first if failed move to mail server.

we have 3 email domains

The Problem.

well there are many, first.

we can only recieve certain accounts from Yahoo. I created an account and can send to my work address perfectly fine, but yet another guy from the office cant and some customers can't as well. I have checked settings on the other guys yahoo account and compared to mine and they are the same. this also applys to domains Yahoo owns IE. sbcglobal

Second problem.

I just recieved a fax from a customer who got (Deferred: Connection timed out with mail.ourdomain.net undeliverable after 4hrs will try for 5days. I sent an email to them then went into exhange under queues and get a (the remote server did not respond to a connection attempt) This would make me think it is there side, but there are to many customers we are having this problem with.

here is another error I am getting.

You do not have permission to send to this recipient.  For assistance, contact your system administrator.
            <MAIL.ssivt.com #5.7.1 smtp;501 5.7.1 This system is not configured to relay mail from <my.name@ourdomain.net> to <her.name@theredomain.COM> for 0.0.0.0> (0.0.0.0 = our mail server ip not the filter IP)

HELP!    this was just a problem but not it has become a critcal one.

Thanks!

I dont know if this helps or not but I have done more work and have come up with this when using smtpdiag

Command I used

smtpdiag (my email address) (customers email address) -d (our isp's dns ip) /v

everything passes all tcp and udp queries

then it says checking MX servers listed for (customers email address)

Connecting to relay.customers domain.com [ip address] on port 25

Connecting to the server failed. Error:10060
Failed to submit mail to relay.customers domain.com

I get that for the 2 customers domains I am trying to fix.

Anyone?

Thanks
* Any 3rd Party AntiSpam/AntiVirus Software on Exchange Server?

* The mail which you received from your yahoo account ... did that pass through MXtreme? you can see that from Message Header.

* Enable Message Tracking and SMTP Logging on Exchange and try see connection attempts

* I know you must have some good reasons to put MXtreme, is it possible to for few days to directly receive on Exchange ... Bypassing MXtreme.

* How is Good/Consistent is your Internet Connection?
you can check those connection Through

ok went to checkdns.net and this is what it came up with for my mail domain

  Domain ourdomain.net has 2 mail-servers.
  Checking mail server (PRI=10) filter.Our Filter.net [0.0.73.5]
  Mail server filter.Our Filter.net[0.0.73.5] answers on port 25
  <<< 220 ***********************
  >>> HELO www.checkdns.net
  <<< 250 FILTER.OurDomain.com
  >>> MAIL FROM: <dnscheck@uniplace.com>
  <<< 250 Ok
  >>> RCPT TO: <postmaster@Our Domain.net>
  <<< 250 Ok
  >>> QUIT

Mail server filter.Our filter.net [our IP.73.5] accepts mail for Our domain.net
  Checking mail server (PRI=20) mail.Our domain.net [our IP.73.6]
  Error connecting to mail server mail.Our Domain.net [our IP.73.6] port 25 : timed out waiting for connection
  Some of your MX do not work properly

ok so some of our MX records dont work properly and my guess is the 73.6 address as thats what failed. I ran the same test for the customers domain and pretty much get the same error

  Domain Customer.com has no MX records, but it has A record for domain. This configuration is not recommended
  Domain Customer.com has only one mail-server
  Checking mail server (A record for domain) 0.0.136.67 [0.0.136.67]
  Error connecting to mail server 0.0.136.67 [0.0.136.67] port 25 : timed out waiting for connection
  Some of your MX do not work properly

Any thoughts on this, where should I go from here, is it mine and there problem? we were able to send mail to them before.

Virus software is virusscan enterprise

I can disable th mxtreme but when I went to checkdns it looked like the filter was the only thing working right.

I believe the yahoo went to the filter but I will need to check

our internet is 2 t1's and is very stable.

more help would be great. thanks for everything!!!!
