Replacing Exchange 2000 front end web server with Exchange 2003

I need to upgrade my Exchange box to 2003, but before I can do this I have to upgrade my front end server(webmail) to Exchange 2003.  When setting up the new box for the front end, Microsoft will not let me perform the typical install because it says I have a 2000 front end server and thinks this install is for a back end machine.  How do I replace the current front end server if MS won't let me build the Exchange 2003 box to replace it?

Hi,

You will have to upgrade the existing Exchange 2000 Frontend Server to Exchange 2003. So you will have to use the Exchange Server 2003 CD on the Exchange 2000 Front End Server and in install type select Upgrade.

Try that, it will surly work.

Cheerss!!!

So I guess the only way to do this is to upgrade the current front end in place.  Silly Microsoft, can't they make anything easy.
