Hi!.  I just have something worrying me. We have an installation for windows 2003 on a Hp Proliant DL 580 G2 Server with 2 x 36GB Hdd and is mirrorred .  Since updating the server from windows 2000 to 2003 we have been having regular server crashes/restarts.  I want to confirm if it has nothing to do with hardware and want to configure another Server of the same type, Plug out the existing hardisk from the faulting server and plug it into the new server.

Now this brings  a thought in my mind.  The inbuilt Smart Array 5x  controller is configured for mirroring and the volume has 2 partitions.  So when I plug out the hard disk and plug it into this new Server, Will the New server Boot???????

For the sake of knowing.  Up until know I know that if one hard drive fails in a raid 1, 0+1, or 5 configuration all we need to do is to pull out the faulty hard drive and plug in another hard disk and then the controller will do the needful. So what would happen if the controller itself  fails!!!!!!!!!.   Will Replacing the controller be enough for the server to boot up normally?????????????????????/
