Some embedded images in messages don't print

I am running Outlook XP SP3 on Windows XP Pro SP2. I get several emails a day with multiple embedded images (MIME Encoded) in the body. When I try to print them, some of the pictures show up as a red X on the paper even though they are there in the email. I have also noticed after printing the same message several times that it is not always the same image(s) that fail to show up in the print.

I have made sure that I am running the latest updates in Windows, IE, and Office. Can anybody help?

Greetings, rbichon !

See this MS article why HTML images do not print. Look at the workaround.

These aren't linked images, they are embedded in the email.

I think that option only exists in Outlook 2003.

I did a little more searching and someone said that it might have to do with Internet Explorer cache. If I double click the message, scroll all the way to the end, and then print it, all of the images print fine. It seems like it is trying to print before the image fully loads and it is causing the image to appear broken. That is just a guess but it might explain why there is an inconsistency with the broken images.

Is there a way to force Outlook to load all of the pictures into cache before it prints?
ooh...... missed that point. sorry...

That would probally be a function of the connections download speed.  And does make sense if you were printing too quickly.
I know you mention this problem is with your embedded images, but this article may point you in the right direction.

I tried the same email on a computer with Outlook 2003 and it consistantly printed all of the images in the email perfectly 10 times. I think I am just going to upgrade the affected computers to Office 2003.
May be you can try this..

open IE.. Select Tools/Internet Options/ Select Advanced Tab/Find a Printing and check the box at "Print background colors & images"

Actually, I already have that box checked because I hate printing a web page and having the backgrounds print blank. Thanks for the suggestion though. It seems like it is a bug in Outlook XP. There are really only 4 people affected in the office so upgrading them to Outlook 2003 won't be that expensive.
