Converting .wma to .mp3

I have some windows media audio files (.wma) that I would like to convert to MP3s.

I have tried a few apps but they say, "You are trying to convert an encrypted file.  You cannot do anything with this file except play it."

That said, I am sure there has got to be a way.  This file is NOT copyrighted.

Any ideas?
