When I boot the PC I am getting this error:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
\windows\system32\config\system

I tried all of the SAFE mode options, including restore last known good config etc. but same error message occurs. It looks like a fix requires running recovery console and replacing the file with the one at \windows\repair\system

However... when I run recovery console to repair "R" I get this stop error:

BAD_POOL_CALLER
STOP: 0x000000c2 (0x00000043, 0xc3344000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000),

or if trying a NEW install:
BAD_POOL_CALLER
STOP: 0x000000c2 (0x00000043, 0xc2984000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

As suggested on several web sites I have removed all USB devices and altered the BIOs to eliminate caching. Most also say to remove drivers etc. but I can't get into the system to do anything.

Have also checked MS ssupport.  There fix(s), seem to put me in this same loop, and even if I could get to a "C" prompt, there fix says not to execute if you have an OEM installed OS.

Any suggestions at this time would be appreciated.

Computer is a Micron- MPC 3.04GHZ Pentium4, two 120GB HD's, 1.02 gig of ram etc.
