Hello experts,

Please tell me if this should be my best solution:

I have a program that needs its own calendar component.  I started creating a dialog box for it, it paints its own month view, etc... To reuse this dialog, I want to be able to package it up and use it from a bunch of other programs I will write in the future.  I can't think of a better way to be able to reuse this "dialog" than to make it an entirely separate application.  This would essentially make reusing it have no work at all to include it in another project - AND I could use the calendar as a separate application.  I know there are a million better calendars out there... But this one would interface best with programs I write...

-  I need the program to be able to process scheduled tasks while logged off - so it needs to run as a service.
-  If it's currently visible and another program adds events to the calendar, these events need to show up as they are added - so it needs to be a service that can accept COM calls and can use MFC painting.

Can you think of a better solution?  If not, how do I create this dialog based application that has these characteristics?

Thank you very much for your help!
Mike
