Symantec mail security 4.6 on windows 2003 server sp1 running Exchange 2003
Hey I have a question regarding Symantec mail security. I have installed a brand new exchange server into another exchange organization. On this new server I have installed Symantec Mail Security 4.6, all the services are running and everythings looks okai. My problem occurs when I try to launch Syamantec Mail Security Console. The page opens and a Windows authentication box opens. I try to logon with the administrator account I used when installing the software, but nothing happens. After the third time the authencation box dissapears and i get a error message in the IE windows saying:
You are not authorized to view this page

Please try the following:
Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page.
Click the Refresh button to try again with different credentials.
HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
Internet Information Services (IIS)
The admin user are member off SAVFMSE Admins, SAVFMSE Viewers and SMSMSE security groups.
This is kind of critcally since I am about to start moving the mailboxes to the new server.
Anyone got any suggestion.

Hi!
I've checked the knowledgebase on Symantec's site.
According to their database you can have this situation with v. 4.6 in two cases:
1. You have a proxy server specified in the browser settings - the solution is to bypass proxy for local addresses
2. You receive a Windows authentication box when you try to open the Admin Web interface - you have to add the web page to the local intranet sites:

I have tried to open the management console from other workstations in the domain and the same thing is happening. The authentication box is popping up, and I try logging on with administrator account. The same error message as above appears. I think that the problem in this case have to be something with the IIS.

Since this server not yet was in production, i uninstalled exchange and IIS. Reinstalled and voila the symantec mail security worked. I think that IIS was corrupt.
