I am trying to uninstall ZoneAlarm Pro from my laptop that is running XP Pro. When I click Change/Remove, I get the following error message:
"Validation failed for C:\WINDOWS\system32\vsdata .dll. You are probably missing a necesssary root certificate."
I can't find anything on this error message. Help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

HarkenBanks,

I have followed both sets of instructions above and unfortunately still get the same error. I am unable to re-install (or uninstall) ZoneAlarm as I get the same error message when I attempt to do so. Any thoughts? Thanks.
HarkenBanks, then you have to uninstall Zone Alarm manually. Do a search for ZA files and remove them. Do the same in the registry.

Oh, boy. My system clock was set to some date in 2003. This is what was causing the validation to fail. In my search to solve the problem, I came across this post on the ZoneLabs forums:

Glad you got the date straightened out.
Ok to refund.

Reinstall the Root Certificates. Go to Add/Remove Programs in control Panel, on the right hand side click on Add/Remove Windows Components and find Root Certificates and disable it, then reboot and re-enable it.
If you stll have the same error, install ZoneAlarm in the same folder. Then uninstall.
Best wishes!
