PING: transmit failed, error code 1450.

I'm getting the following message on the command prompt when running a ping:

PING: transmit failed, error code 1450.

The only way I can fix it is restarting the computer.  I already changed network card, ran antispyware, updated the drivers, ran the microsoft updates and I still get it.
Has anyone ever seen this error and if so is there any other workaround besides a restart????

I'm running windows 2000

thanks

This is indicative of a driver or hardware error. Chaning NIC cards may have eliminated the hardware error.
Have you run sfc /scannow ?

No...I will put a cdrom with the win2k disk since it is asking for it.  I'll let you know the results.

sfc /scannow didn't fix it.  I reinstalled the tcp/ip protocol and it fixed the problem.

Thanks
