Event viewer states that "Could not start DHCP server service on local coputer"

Hi

For some reason my DHCP Server stopped and after some initial investigation I realized the DHCP Server Service had stopped and gives the error " Could not start DHCP server service on local computer Error 20013"

From within Admin tools\DHCP I'm advised the DHCP server you specified cannot be located. The DHCP Server might be down, there might be network problems, or the DHCP server service might not be installed.

Then finally there is a message advising the DHCP Service is not running on the target computer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Great stuff.  DHCP was disabled. I enabled it and started it. It already has a pool set up. how do I get my new static IP address into this pool. Do I change all the pool addresses?
I had experienced this same error.  After checking the eventviewer I had determined that a log file (j50.log) located in:

C:\Windows\System32\DHCP\ had become corrupted.

I made a copy of the log file, and deleted the log file from C:\Windows\System32\DHCP

Then started the DHCP service through the Services Console.  The logfile was recreated, and DHCP worked perfectly afterwards.
I have the same problem, but the info above didn't work for me.  I have deleted authorized/unauthorized the server.  deleted and tried to recreate the scope.  Deleted the DHCP log file.    My initiasl problem was that I lost communication with the SBS 2003 svr (new install) things were working great for a few weeks.  then after windws ran the updates.  All communications to the sver and clients stopped.  However all machines can browes internet.  Fistr thing I tried was removing the recent updates, nothing I do allows communication.
