I user Thunderbird with a amtp.gmail.com to send mail I used port 587 and set TLS security.... prodigy.net.mx receives the email fine this is the first tiem if have hear about TLS security... I guess other programs set a default. How can I tweak this setting in other smtps. It is clearly a client option.

In Thunderbird, go to Tools > Accounts > Outgoing Server > Advanced.  Change your email server SMTP as follow:

Yahoo:  Change SMTP port to 587
Runbox: Change SMTP port to 26 or 587

Yahoo do not have TLS security.

Runbox does have TLS security for SMTP

http://www.runbox.com/twiki/bin/view/RunboxWizard/SecureConnections

you can use secure.runbox.com for POP and IMAP over SSL, and SMTP over TLS.

The port numbers to use are:

    * POP: 995
    * IMAP: 993
    * SMTP: 25, 26, or 587

I do not see where I can setup my client with runbox as smtp. Pop3 ok but not smtp

Avatar of war1war1🇺🇸

In Thunderbird, go to Tools > Accounts > Outgoing Server > Advanced.  Change Runbox SMTP port to 26 or 587

Then in the Runbox settings, go Server Settings > Advanced > SMTP tab.  Select the runbox smtp server.

sorry but I see no Runbox setting... where are they?

Avatar of war1war1🇺🇸

robrodp, you said you have a Runbox account, so you have Runbox settings in Tools > Accounts. Under Runbox, there is Server Settings. Hightlight it.  Click on the Advanced button and then SMTP tab.

robrodp,

We not talking about Runbox main page; we are talking about setting up SMTP in Thunderbird. So with Thunderbird open, go to Tools > Accounts. Hilight Runbox Server Settings in the left pane. On the right pane, click on the Advanced button and then SMTP tab.
