Mysql table alias

Hi experts,

Background:
---------------
I am developing my company forum with vBulletin.
I want to develop a NEW member system of company website.
Both the website and the forum are using Mysql as database.

Requirement:
-----------------
I want to merge the forum and website together so they share the same set of members' data for the ease of management. For example, when a guest registers at my company website, he/she will automatically become a registered member of the forum and vice versa.

Problem description:
------------------------
vBulletin stores forum members' information in table <vb_user> in database <forum>, but I want to store those information in table <user> in database <mycompany>. I can create a new table <user> in <mycompany> with exactly the same structure as <vb_user>, but I don't know how to link them together.

Question:
------------
Can I create an alias of a table in Mysql ?
If not, can I synchronize 2 tables with same structure in different databases ?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

if you are already on version mysql 5.x, then you might try to use a VIEW:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/create-view.html

for version 4.x, you have to check out how to replicate a table:
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/4.1/en/replication.html
