Is there any way to bypass this....

When i click on an excel or word file from my site it comes up with the open file / save file dialog. Does anyone know if I can bypass this screen so that it just displays the selected file.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This is a client side setting. To my knowledge, there is no way to bypass that one.

do you mean bypass it on a per-client basis? or you want to force it open on all users machines ? (impossible btw)

If you just want to change the setting on your computer then you can do this:

start > settings > control panel ..

folder options > file types ..

scroll down to XLS (for excel spreadsheet, DOC for word etc)

click advanced > untick the 'confirm open after download'

click ok to save..

If you want to help your users doing this then maybe add an FAQ to your site..
